Design is an interesting world. Having worked as a designer for companies in many different industries like education, fintech, social, food&drink, even robotics, I’ve learned that the core job is the same: find the problem, research the problem, propose a solution and fix the problem with design. The only difference working for different industries are that they have different problems, and it is on the designer to approach the problem effectively.

It is important for a designer to be adaptable and informed of various industries and their biggest problems to solve. The education industry’s biggest problems to solve are communicating why their product is the best delivery to learn. Why is this language app better than all others available on the market?

How will the widgets and reminder system help the user retain the knowledge longer? Fintech and tech’s biggest problems to solve are generally trust and safety. Social’s problems are solving for organic K-factor and trust.

Every industry has their problems, and its imperative for a designer to be open to investigating the problems efficiently. I’ve proposed solutions that are ‘quick wins’ and others that are complex and out there and each have their pros and cons.

I’ve learned there is no absolutely perfect solution every but there are ones that are much closer to perfect than others, and it is the strive to getting as close as possible to the perfect solution that makes a great designer.
